Other Tributes
Dear Eileen:
Please know that several of us have you in our thoughts
and prayers during this time when we remember Chuck. I know
Chuck would be very proud of you for your efforts over the
years. You have had an impact on many individuals and I,
for one, will always remember Chuck and the message you have
shared about his life. Thank you for your friendship over
the years and being an inspiration for those of us involved
with college students.
Fraternally,

From
Thomas “Sparky” Reardon,
Long-time Greek affairs professional at the University
of Mississippi: Every time she spoke, she just
tossed that starfish back into the sea and said, "I made a difference
to that one!" God bless you, Eileen, Love, Sparky
From Richard Sigal,
Sociologist, and Alfred University alumnus
Eileen:
Although we've never met, I have come to know you over the years. Since
Chuck's tragic death in my fraternity, the anti-hazing movement has
bloomed from Alfred, to become a national endeavor.
I was contacted
this past week by the office of Congresswoman Diane
Watson requesting that I review her proposed bill which would establish
anti-hazing legislation at the federal level. That's a long road
traveled, much of it due to your efforts.
My involvement
with hazing began with Chuck. I took his death
personally, because although I was long gone from Alfred by 1978, my
positive feelings for Alfred and for Klan Alpine were forever
diminished. Since then, I have written, spoken and taught about hazing
issues to many groups and individuals, especially with Klan brothers of
my era.
I hope that together
we can keep moving forward to generate positive
changes on college campuses across the country, to a great degree in
Chuck's memory. I am thinking of you on this bittersweet anniversary.
